Genshin Impact 5.3 introduced two new playable Natlan characters: Pyro Archon Mavuika and “Granny Itztli” Citlali. Since Mavuika is a Pyro Archon, it’s no surprise that her constellations are amazing and worth pulling for if you like her enough and have sufficient Primogems to obtain her copies. However, for characters other than Archons and Harbingers, it’s often uncertain whether their constellations are worth wishing for, as is the case with Citlali.
Citlali is a 5-star Cryo shield character who excels at buffing Pyro and Hydro DPS characters in Genshin Impact. While HoYoverse has developed a habit of introducing problems in a character’s kit and then fixing them through early constellations, Citlali is a character who works flawlessly at constellation 0. There’s no need to wish for extra copies of Citlali, but if you want to enhance her supporting capabilities or boost her personal damage, pulling for Citlali’s constellations might be worth considering.
In this guide, we’ll discuss all six of Citlali’s constellations in Genshin Impact and whether they are worth pulling for.
All Citlali Constellations in Genshin Impact
Here are all the six constellations of Citlali and what they do:
1) Radiant Blades of Centzon Mimixcoah
When she uses the Elemental Skill Dawnfrost Darkstar, Citlali gains the “Opalstar Vestments” effect until Itzpapa leaves the field. During this time, she will obtain 10 Stellar Blades. When a nearby active character other than Citlali deals DMG using Normal, Charged, or Plunging Attacks, or Elemental Skills and Bursts, consume 1 Blade to increase the DMG dealt by 200% of Citlali’s Elemental Mastery.
After nearby party members trigger Frozen or Melt, Citlali will gain another 3 Stellar Blades. This effect can trigger once every 8s.Using the Elemental Skill Dawnfrost Darkstar will reset Stellar Blade stacks.
Additionally, when Citlali is using her leap, or is Aiming or using her Charged Attack in mid-air, her Phlogiston consumption is decreased by 45%.
Citlali’s early constellations are impressive and significantly enhance her support capabilities in Genshin Impact. While her shielding abilities remain mediocre even with constellations, her effectiveness at buffing Pyro and Hydro characters improves considerably. Citlali’s first constellation adds an effect that increases Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks, Elemental Skills, and Elemental Bursts (essentially all types of damage a character can deal) by 200% of Citlali’s Elemental Mastery.
Since Citlali already needs to be built with a high amount of Elemental Mastery, her C1 provides a substantial damage boost. Additionally, it reduces her Phlogiston consumption by 45%, which is particularly useful for players exploring Natlan and utilizing Citlali’s unique ability to float and jump high into the sky.
2) Heart Devourer’s Travail
Citlali gains 125 Elemental Mastery, and other characters shielded by her Opal Shield, or who have Itzpapa following them, gain 250 Elemental Mastery.
Additionally, when the Elemental Skill Dawnfrost Darkstar is used, nearby active characters will also be granted an Opal Shield. Also, the Passive Talent “Mamaloaco’s Frigid Rain” has its effects enhanced:
While Itzpapa is on the field, after nearby party members trigger Frozen or Melt, the opponent(s) affected by this reaction will have their Pyro and Hydro RES additionally decreased by 20% for 12s. You must first unlock the Passive Talent “Mamaloaco’s Frigid Rain” to gain access to the above effect.
Citlali’s kit revolves entirely around Elemental Mastery, with her skills and shield scaling exclusively off this stat. Her second constellation grants her 125 Elemental Mastery and provides 250 Elemental Mastery to her teammates after she casts her Elemental Skill. Since Citlali is designed to be played alongside Pyro and Hydro characters, her party members will greatly benefit from the substantial Elemental Mastery boost.
Similar to other shield characters such as Zhongli, Diona, and Layla, Citlali can create shields for nearby active characters. While this effect is less useful in single-player mode, your friends in co-op will definitely appreciate both the shield and the Elemental Mastery buff from your Citlali.
Citlali’s second constellation also enhances her Passive Talent, “Mamaloaco’s Frigid Rain,” by adding an additional 20% Pyro and Hydro resistance shred. Previously, it provided a 20% RES shred, but with C2, it now totals a 40% RES shred. Heart Devourer’s Travail is arguably Citlali’s best constellation in Genshin Impact and is a great stopping point if you don’t want to invest further in her constellations.
3) Cloud Serpent’s Feathered Crown
Increases the Level of Dawnfrost Darkstar by 3.
Maximum upgrade level is 15.
Citlali’s shield is relatively fragile compared to other shielders in Genshin Impact. Even 4-star shielders like Layla and Diona surpass her in shield damage absorption. With Constellation 3, Citlali’s Elemental Skill, Dawnfrost Darkstar, gains three additional levels.
However, shielding isn’t the centerpiece of Citlali’s kit. Her primary role lies in shredding Pyro and Hydro resistance in enemies and enabling reactions like Frozen or Melt. For this reason, her third constellation is fairly underwhelming and not worth targeting.
4) Death Defier’s Spirit Skull
While the Elemental Skill Dawnfrost Darkstar is active, when Itzpapa’s Frostfall Storm hits opponents, an additional Obsidian Spiritvessel Skull is summoned. When a Spiritvessel Skull summoned this way explodes, it deals 1800% of Citlali’s Elemental Mastery as Nightsoul-aligned AoE Cryo DMG and restores 16 Nightsoul points and 8 Energy for Citlali. This effect can trigger once every 8s. This DMG is not considered Elemental Burst DMG.
Citlali’s C4 focuses on boosting her personal damage. Her Elemental Skill will now trigger a massive AoE Cryo explosion, dealing 1800% of her Elemental Mastery as damage whenever an extra skull summoned by the skill hits an enemy. This attack also restores 16 Nightsoul points, extending the duration of her Elemental Skill, and recovers 8 Energy points, making it easier to manage her Energy needs since her Elemental Burst costs 60 Energy. With her fourth constellation, you can afford to invest fewer rolls in Energy Recharge.
That said, C4 isn’t a highly recommended constellation. If you’re pulling for it, you’re likely aiming for her C6. Regardless, I don’t suggest going for C4. You’ll be using Citlali alongside extremely powerful DPS characters like Mavuika and Arlecchino, so additional damage from your support isn’t necessary.
5) Nemontemi’s Hex
Increases the Level of Edict of Entwined Splendor by 3.
Maximum upgrade level is 15.
The multiplier on Citlali’s elemental burst, Edict of Entwined Splendor, is surprisingly quite high. Since you will be building her solely with Elemental Mastery, Citlali can do some massive screenshot-worthy numbers if you can get her to crit on her elemental burst. If you want to boost her nuke numbers further, the Citlali C5 will be helpful for you. It increases her elemental burst by three levels.
6) Teoiztac’s Secret Pact
After being summoned with the Elemental Skill Dawnfrost Darkstar, Itzpapa will always be in the Opal Fire state, and when Nightsoul points are exhausted, this state will not end.
Additionally, when Dawnfrost Darkstar is used, Itzpapa will consume all Nightsoul points, and while it is on the field, it will continuously consume Nightsoul points. Each Nightsoul point consumed in this way will grant Citlali 1 “Cifra of the Secret Law” point.
A maximum of 40 such points can be gained, and each point Citlali possesses will grant all nearby party members a 1.5% Pyro and Hydro DMG Bonus, and increase the DMG Citlali deals by 2.5%.
When Itzpapa leaves the field, or upon using Citlali’s Elemental Skill again, all “Cifra of the Secret Law” points she has will be removed.
As is often the case, the final constellation is usually the strongest, and this holds true for Citlali. Her sixth constellation enhances both her support capabilities and personal damage. With C6, Citlali’s Itzpapa, summoned by her Elemental Skill, will continuously attack throughout the skill’s duration, even after all Nightsoul points have been consumed.
When Itzpapa consumes Nightsoul points, it increases the Pyro and Hydro DMG Bonus of party members by up to 60% and boosts Citlali’s own damage by 100%. Without a doubt, this is her most powerful constellation. However, whether pulling six copies of Citlali is worth it ultimately depends on your priorities and resources.
What is the Best Citlali Constellation in Genshin Impact
Out of all six constellations, Citlali’s second constellation, Heart Devourer’s Travail, is her best constellation in Genshin Impact. It provides a massive 250 EM buff to party members and increases Citlali’s own EM by 125. Citlali with her C2 will give you a 40% Pyro and Hydro resistance shred, similar to the amount provided by Kazuha and Xilonen.
Should you get Citlali C1R1 or C0R1?
Starcaller’s Watch is a catalyst tailor-made for Citlali in Genshin Impact. Players often face the dilemma of whether to focus on Citlali’s constellations or her weapons. In Citlali’s case, her signature catalyst is a solid choice, offering a total of 365 Elemental Mastery from its passive and secondary stat. It also provides a 28% DMG buff to characters shielded by its user. While this catalyst is the best pick for Citlali, its niche passive effect is quite restrictive. Apart from Citlali, there aren’t many shielded catalyst characters who can fully benefit from Starcaller’s Watch. Additionally, Citlali already has some decent 4-star and 3-star alternatives, such as Sacrificial Fragments and Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers. You should consider her signature weapon only if you’re okay with having a niche 5-star weapon.
As for constellations, Citlali’s C1 enhances her support role but isn’t strong enough to outweigh her weapon. However, we recommend aiming for C2 over her weapon if you have enough Primogems to guarantee it.
Ultimately, Citlali works just fine at C0R0, and you don’t need to spend extra Primogems if you’re satisfied with her base kit. However, fans of the adorable yet formidable granny may want to make her as strong as possible. In that case, feel free to wish for her constellations in Genshin Impact.
