Who is Varesa in Genshin Impact? Character kit, ascension materials, and more

Varesa is a 5-star Electro Plunge DPS in Genshin Impact, introduced in Version 5.5. As the first 5-star character from the Collective of Plenty tribe in Natlan, she wields a catalyst to unleash powerful aerial strikes. She debuted alongside her master, Iansan, a 4-star Electro character, and quickly became a fan favorite. Despite her playful and carefree appearance, Varesa possesses superhuman strength, effortlessly overwhelming enemies with raw power.

Her combat revolves around chaining Electro-infused plunge attacks, making her an explosive force in battle. Beneath her cute twin-tails and tribal accessories lies a fierce warrior, striking with speed and precision. To maximize her potential, players should focus on boosting her Electro DMG, Crit stats, and Energy Recharge. In this Genshin Impact guide, we will be discussing Varesa’s kit, materials required for her ascension, and more.

Genshin Impact: Varesa’s combat and passive talents

Genshin Impact Varesa

Normal Attack: By the Horns

Varesa’s Normal Attack lets her perform up to three fast Electro-infused strikes, dealing damage to enemies in front of her.

Her Charged Attack is a powerful headbutt that consumes stamina, dealing Electro damage and launching her into the air.

Her Plunging Attack is a special move that makes her dive from the air, dealing Electro damage in an area when she lands. If she is in combat or her attack hits an enemy, she gains Nightsoul points. Once she collects enough Nightsoul points, she enters the Fiery Passion state.

In Fiery Passion, all her attacks get stronger. Her Normal Attacks deal more damage, her Charged Attack becomes a stronger slam that propels her into the air, and her Plunging Attack consumes all Nightsoul points for a massive Electro explosion.

Elemental Skill: Riding the Night-Rainbow

Varesa dashes forward in a flash of lightning, dealing Electro damage to enemies in her path and gaining Nightsoul points. After using this skill, she can immediately follow up with a free Charged Attack that does not use stamina.

She has two ways to use this skill:

  • Tap: A quick dash forward.
  • Hold: She enters Sudden Onrush mode, consuming Nightsoul points while increasing her movement speed and resistance to knockback. In this state, she can run across water or Phlogiston without taking damage.

Varesa has two charges of this skill, allowing her to move quickly and keep up the fight. When she enters Fiery Passion, she gains an extra charge and her skill deals even more damage.

Elemental Burst: Glory Vent!

Varesa leaps into the air and delivers a devastating flying kick, dealing massive Electro damage in a large area—just like the legendary heroes she admires.

Using this burst instantly refills her Nightsoul points and activates Fiery Passion, supercharging all her attacks. While in this state, her Elemental Burst becomes even stronger, dealing even more Electro damage.

Additionally, when she performs a Plunging Attack during Fiery Passion, she triggers Apex Drive, increasing her resistance to being interrupted. While Apex Drive is active, she can unleash a special version of her burst called Glory Vent: Fiery Mountain Toss, which consumes less Energy and lets her perform an extremely powerful Thunderous Tornado Eruption Plunging Attack, dealing massive AoE Electro damage.

First Ascension Passive: Tag-Team Triple Jump!

After using the Elemental Skill Riding the Night-Rainbow, Varesa gains “Rainbow Crash” for 5s.
During this time, when Varesa uses a Plunging Attack, the shockwave DMG dealt when she hits the ground is increased by 60% of her ATK. If Varesa is in the Fiery Passion state, this ground impact DMG is increased by 150% of her ATK instead.

The Rainbow Crash effect will be canceled once a ground impact hits an opponent, or when its duration expires.

Fourth Ascension Passive: The Hero Twice-Returned!

When a nearby party member triggers a Nightsoul Burst, Varesa’s ATK increases by 35% for 12s. Max 2 stacks. Each stack’s duration is counted independently.

Night Realm’s Gift Passive: A Torch That Incinerates Evil

After Nightsoul points have been fully depleted, Varesa will switch to using Phlogiston to maintain the Sudden Onrush mode from her Nightsoul’s Blessing.
While in an area with Phlogiston Mechanics within Natlan, Nightsoul Transmission: Varesa can be used. When the current active character is sprinting or in movement modes caused by certain Talents, or at a certain height in the air, switching to Varesa will trigger the following: Varesa enters the Nightsoul’s Blessing state, switches to Sudden Onrush mode, and obtains 20 Nightsoul points. Nightsoul Transmission can be triggered once every 10s by your own party.
While in an area with Phlogiston Mechanics within Natlan, when Varesa uses terrain differences to leap, she takes less fall damage.

Utility Passive: Blazing Heart, Singular Advance!

Varesa’s Sprint speed is increased. When she is not in combat, her Sprint Stamina consumption will also increase.
Additionally, while in an area with Phlogiston Mechanics within Natlan, your party members will restore 20 Phlogiston when consuming food. This effect can occur once every 10s and does not take effect in Domains, Trounce Domains, or the Spiral Abyss.
