Anyone who has played Minecraft for even a short time can never emphasize enough the importance of having a sufficient amount of food. When you perform energy-intensive tasks in Minecraft but do not consume enough food, your health will eventually fall until it hits five hearts on Easy difficulty, half hearts on Normal, and it will kill you immediately on Hard.
Fortunately, Minecraft has a wide variety of food items that you can eat. However, not all items restore the same amount of hunger. One of the naturally found food items is apples, and there are a handful of ways in which you can acquire them.
In this article, we will discuss some of Minecraft’s most efficient ways of obtaining apples.
Different ways of efficiently acquiring Apples in Minecraft
Since a single apple restores only four hunger points(or two drumsticks in the game), they aren’t the best food item. However, they can be used to craft Golden Apples, which are excellent for consumption. What makes golden apples so good is the special effects you get upon eating them: Absorption I and Regeneration II.
Apples are also quite decent for composting. There is a 65% chance of an apple raising the composter level by 1.
Oak leaves
Oak leaves and dark oak leaves are also excellent sources of apples. They have a 0.5% chance of dropping an apple. This may not seem like much, but if you are in a forest, there are likely many trees there, and each tree has a lot of leaves too. Also, you will get a ton of saplings which you can plant to grow more trees.
The chances of leaves dropping apples can also be increased by using a tool to break them with Fortune enchantment. Bone meal can also be used to grow more trees, which is the best way to acquire apples.
Trading
If you are not short of emeralds, you can quickly get a lot of apples by trading. When at the Apprentice level, farmer villagers have a 66.7% chance of offering four apples in exchange for an emerald. The probability of them offering trade is 50% in the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft.
This method will get you a lot of apples, and if you do not have many emeralds, you can consider creating a raid farm. Raid farms automatically kill pillagers and collect the resources such as emeralds dropped by them.
